Below is a demo showing a colorization effect using Flash
technology. This is a simple technology demo, but it's not hard to
imagine practical uses for the effect shown here.
To use this demo, click anywhere on the motorcycle, and then select a color from
the color palette below the image. (Alternatively, click on a swatch tab to the
right of the image to select a specific object.) The color
palette's base hue can be changed by clicking the small colored buttons below the palette. The hue
can be fine tuned by scrolling the palette using the large arrow buttons on either side of the palette.

Notes
The quality of this demo does not represent the ultimate possible quality. This effect can be scaled up to very high resolution images.
To do this effect, some image preparation work is required, such as manually generating the color area masks.
This demo was done quickly, and so letters and small detail graphics were not masked out appropriately. Doing so would add to the overall perception of working with a true photograph.
In this demo, it's easy to achieve non-realistic colors (such as "glowing" colors or pure white). A production implementation would have controls to prevent unrealistic colors.
Click here to view a small version of the original photograph. A better quality demo could have been achieved if a more neutral subject was available, such as a silver/grey Hayabusa. Starting from the blue/silver required photoshop work to neutralize the starting color differences.
The motorcycle in the picture is my 2000 Suzuki Hayabusa 1300R. It goes a little faster than the average moped.
